Nintendo has announced a Switch 2 Edition for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is a paid upgrade for the game that will add enhanced resolution, mouse controls using the Joy-Con 2 controller, expanded online play and more to the game. However, there will also be a separate free update that all players will be able to enjoy, which adds a new resort hotel, additional amiibo functionality, collaboration items, updates to online play, and more. Both will release on January 15th 2026.
