Bloomberg has published a new report about Nintendo’s potential plans for the Switch in 2023.

According to sources “familiar with the matter”, Nintendo is planning to ramp up Switch production in this coming fiscal year. Although the company had previously lowered its sales forecast due to component shortages, they are now reportedly “convinced” that the situation has improved and that there is still high demand for the hybrid console.

This move reportedly comes as a bit of surprise to analysts, given that the Switch is already around six-years old. Some believe that a slowdown in demand for the Switch is “unavoidable”, as consumers may choose to hold off in anticipation of a next-generation system, despite there being no signs that Nintendo will be launching one any time soon. Whether or not Nintendo’s expectations will wind up defying these predictions remains to be seen.
