Defiant EA Refuses To Stop Selling Lootboxes In Belgium
This year, the video game industry was caught in an intense battle against lootboxes, with many European countries calling lootboxes gambling and demanding companies to stop selling them to children.
In Belgium, many game companies have stopped selling lootboxes after the Gaming Commission declared lootboxes as gambling. Electronic Arts, also known as EA, has refused to stop selling lootboxes in Belgium through games such as FIFA 18 and FIFA 19. This has attracted the attention of the Brussels public prosecutor, which is now conducting a criminal investigation on EA.
