Digimon Survive Release Date Info “Will Take A Little Longer”, More Details About Story And Gameplay Shared

Earlier today during the Digimon Con 2022 online presentation, Bandai Namco revealed more details about Digimon Survive, the 2018 announced title which has been delayed several times.

The details came via an interview with Producer Kazumasa Habu, who took the stage to answer some questions about the game. During this Q&A, Habu apologized for the game’s multiple delays, explaining that changes in the development team have caused a lot of uncertainty, and it has been difficult to provide regular updates. He also stated that information about the game’s new release date “will take a little longer” as a result.

A translation of Habu’s comments on the situation can be found below, via Gematsu:

“As we’ve already informed you, once we postponed the release due to a change in the development team, and that we are now developing the game with a new development team. Changing teams has led to a lot of rework on the game, leading to delays. This has caused a lot of uncertainty that prevented us from giving regular updates. However, thanks to the efforts of the new development team, we are now able to be back on track, getting closer and closer to the completion of the game.

“As for the release date information, it is expected to take a little longer as we’re still adjusting it internally. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the delay. But we would appreciate it if you could wait just a little longer.”

Habu also answered some additional questions which shed more light on the game’s setting and gameplay. Some highlights can be found below, but the full details are available on Gematsu’s translation:

  • Digimon are depicted as “ethereal beings” that humans interact with through modern technology.
  • The target audience of this game are adults, so the story is a little darker.
  • The game consists of text adventures and tactics battles, and the story is divided into chapters.
    • The volume of text adventure and tactics battle is about 7:3, and the game is mainly text adventure.
  • There are 12 chapters with three routes, as well as hidden “secret” route.
    • Each route will take around 40 hours to complete, making for a total of 80 to 100 hours to complete everything.
  • There are 113 Digimon featured in the game.
    • You can recruit Digimon through having conversations with them.
  • There is a New Game+ function, and four difficulty levels.
  • The game is only partially voice-acted.
  • There is no multiplayer.

Aside from the interview, a new trailer for the game was also shared as part of the presentation. However, it seems the footage will only be re-released to the public on March 3rd. In the meantime, a mirror of the trailer can be found below, via Youtuber XAnimeGamer:
