Digital Foundry Discusses The Leaked Images And Specs Of The Switch Successor

Earlier this month, images and details about a supposed prototype of the Switch 2 were leaked online, further fueling the fervor surrounding Nintendo’s mysterious Switch successor.

Now, Digital Foundry has shared some analysis about the validity of the leaked images. Speaking to IGN, Digital Foundry said that the leak is most likely legitimate, citing how difficult it would be to fake components such as the motherboard, and how the it lines up nicely with other, more accurate leaks from other sources:

It’s right to have a degree of skepticism about this leak because there’s nothing to stop someone 3D printing up a fake casing. However, faking a convincing motherboard would require a degree of technical knowledge that I’d put beyond even the most elaborate hoax. It would be easier simply not to fake a board at all and to make the printed components look a lot more genuine.

Then there’s the fact that everything shown on that board is a match for the latest and most accurate leaks based on Taiwan shipping manifests, accumulated by the ardent sleuths on the Famiboards forum.

Digital Foundry also had a lenghty discussion about the leak on the DF Direct Weekly series, which you can view below. A detailed summary written up by Eurogamer can also be found here.
