Inti Creates has announced they will be releasing Divine Dynamo Flamefrit digitally for all major platforms.
The game is a retro-style 2D action game starring a sword-wielding hero and his giant robot partner, alternating between a top-down fantasy adventure and first-person mech battles. It was originally planned as a bonus game included excsluvively in the Japanese physical release for Card-en-Ciel, but will now launch in Winter 2024 as a digital title for all platforms, including the Switch.
Today, July 19, Inti Creates has announced their latest game project, Divine Dynamo Flamefrit, at the BitSummit Drift game show in Kyoto, Japan.
Divine Dynamo Flamefrit is a 2D action homage to the games and anime of the 90s. Players will control hero Yuto Hino in top-down action stages, and climb aboard the giant robot Flamefrit for first-person boss battles. Master both gameplay styles!
Originally teased as an April Fools’ Prank, Divine Dynamo Flamefrit was scheduled to launch exclusively on physical releases of Card-en-Ciel in Japan on October 24, 2024. Inti Creates is happy to reveal that Flamefrit will also be releasing digitally on all major platforms, (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Steam)! Yuto is a master of the sword and can unleash different attacks with a single button. Keep attacking for a three-hit combo or charge a fiery spinning slash!

Yuto’s roll can dodge enemies attack, but will also let him counter enemies with the right timing!

Challenge Bosses in First-Person
Boss battles change the point of view completely to a first-person vantage.
Use the crosshairs to control Flamefrit and slash enemy magic out of the air, and slice and dice the foe when the they get near!
Guard well to charge up Flamefrit’s power! Strike them down with the “Flame Saber!”
—Move the crosshair and fire to drive off attacks! When the foe approaches, swing your sword!
—Guard enemy attacks to charge up Flamefrit’s power. At full power, Flamefrit can unleash his devastating “Flame Saber”!
—Guard the boss’ special attack at the right time to cock swords. press attack rapidly to throw off their guard and leave them open!
—Summon allies in their Divine Dynamies for full-screen attacks!
Call upon your friends in their Divine Dynamos for powerful one-time attacks as your trump cards. Each ally you recruit will increase your fighting strength, so find as many as you can along your journey!

Yuto Hino (voiced by Allanah Fitzgerald in English)
“My soul’s burning bright!”
Japanese middle school boy who was summoned to another world. He sets off on an adventure of swords and sorcery in the fantasy realm of “Hologard” alongside his partner Knight Flamefrit and trusty friends. While he doesn’t mind the clingy affections of his childhood friend Maho, he reacts poorly when their friends begin teasing the two of them.

Yuto unleashes the fire in his soul. Capable of burning grass and melting ice.
Knight Flamefrit (voiced by Peter von Gomm in English)
“Yuto! Trust in the spirits!”
Yuto’s Divine Dynamo with the title of “Knight.” He normally dwells within Yuto’s sword. He is a sentient robot created by an ancient civilization to fight against the nascent demon lord. For his ultimate attack, he swings his sword clad in flames while yelling, “Strike them down! Flame Saber!”
Maho Kazamatsuri (voiced by Angel Haven Rey in English)
“Take care, Yuto!”
She was summoned to Hologard alongside her childhood friend Yuto. Maho has been inseparable from Yuto for as long as they can remember. She is in line to inherit her family’s shrine, and is known for her courage. Her Divine Dynamo is the Mage Winsylph. Those around her often tease Maho for her close relationship with Yuto, often calling them husband and wife. Maho firmly believes they will indeed be married some day, and thinks nothing of it.

Summons an enemy-seeking tornado! Powers up based on the terrain!
Tamaki Mikagami (voiced by Bryn Apprill in English)
“All the best!”
A friend of Yuto and Maho who was summoned with them. Tamaki is a willful girl who often fights with Yuto. She despises evil and cowardly people. Her Divine Dynamo is the Monk Aquadeen. She often gets irritated watching Yuto and Maho avoid feelings for one another.

Launches ice in wide spread! Remains on the ground to damage enemies, and can extinguish even hot lava.
Mamoru Tsuchiya (voiced by Chris Nelson in English)
“I’ll protect you all!”
A friend of Yuto and Maho who was summoned alongside them. Mamoru’s appearance is quite older than his true age, making him defensive at times. He is Yuto’s trusty confidante. His Divine Dynamo is the Warrior Gaiatan. His straightforward demeanor often makes him the mediator of the four friends.

Mamoru protects Yuto with a charging shield. It gains power with each attack it absorbs!
