Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Surpasses 100k Copies In Japan
Media Create has released their latest sales data for the Japanese market for the period between May 7 and May 14, 2018.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, the latest Nintendo title to launch on Switch, retains its No. 1 position on the software charts. The game sold 25,886 units last week, pushing up its lifetime total to 114,307. We expect the game to overtake the original Wii U version in lifetime sales this week.
It has overall been a good week for Nintendo Switch evergreen titles such as Splatoon 2 (No. 3, 12966), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (No. 4, 10383), and Kirby Star Allies (No. 6, 9414).
Although it’s been a few weeks since Nintendo Labo first launched in Japan, both the Variety Kit (No. 5, 9818) and Robot Kit (No. 14, 2416) have been selling enough to make it on the charts. We’d also like to point out that overall Nintendo Labo sales have topped 200,000 units.
As for the hardware charts, Nintendo Switch continues to sell like hot pancakes, moving 31,720 systems last week (54.5% of all hardware sold). The number may have dipped slightly, but that’s due to overall lesser hardware sold for all systems.
