Several Mario Kart World fans on social media have observed something creepy going on with the game’s background NPCs.

It appears that the background NPCs, such as Lumas, Koopa Troopas, Toads, and Yoshis, follow the camera rather than the player’s vehicle, as though it’s breaking the fifth wall. Some users have remarked that this is “a little creepy”, but this behavior helps players to take great photos of background NPCs in photo mode as the NPCs would be always looking at the camera no matter what.
