While Nintendo has stated that the price increases in the US are due to “changing market conditions”, it’s widely believed to have been caused by the tariff situation that has increased the cost of importing goods into the US.
The US isn’t the only market to be affected by price increases. Earlier on August 1, select products in Canada also received price increases, albeit at a smaller scale than the US. It’s believed that the price increases in Canada mainly stem from currency fluctuations.
Although Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and games for both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch aren’t affected by price increases in the US, Nintendo hasn’t ruled out of any price increases for these products in the future.
