Gallery: French Police Seizing Pirated Nintendo Games
During the days of the NES and SNES, it was extremely profitable for pirates to manufacture pirated video games from the comfort of their own home.
This was a huge problem plaguing Nintendo not only in parts of Asia and South America but Europe as well. Working with French law enforcement, Nintendo successfully seized and destroyed items used to manufacture pirated games. Here’s a look at a pirate’s home, dated December 21, 1994:

We’ve come a long way from those days. Nintendo continues to put in a lot of effort to stop pirates worldwide, often winning lawsuits against those who develop or sell products for pirating games.
