Gamers Condemn GameStop For Ripping Off amiibo Collector

A tweet from GameStop has went viral for allegedly ripping off a customer that traded in their near-complete amiibo collection.

According to the post, a customer sold their entire near-complete amiibo collection for USD1,340 in trade-in credit at a GameStop in Tuscon, Arizona. The customer used their trade-in credit to pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2 and other products.

The collection included many valuable out-of-print amiibo that would have fetched high prices on eBay, such as the Yarn Yoshi amiibo and giant Detective Pikachu amiibo,

The tweet from GameStop caused outrage from gamers. They condemned GameStop for “ripping off” the customer and said that this wasn’t something to be proud of. One person even commented that they would have offered USD3,000 for the entire collection, double of what GameStop had offered.

However, the customer wrote on Reddit that they didn’t mind GameStop’s offer because they knew they would have gotten way more if they sold them separately, but they don’t have the time or space to do that due to college.
