Genki Clarifies They Have Not Actually Seen A Real Switch 2, Nintendo Releases Additional Comments

During this year’s Consumer Electronics Show convention, accessory maker Genki has been showing off various accessories they are designing for the Switch’s successor, which Nintendo has yet to officially reveal.

Previously, it was reported that a representative from Genki claimed that the accessories they were showcasing were based on a real unit of the Switch 2, stoking the flames of excitement amongst fans.

However, the company has now clarified that this is not the case. In a new interview with Japanese outlet GameSpark, “a person in charge” said that the accessories were made based on leaked information from the industry, and that they had not actually seen a Switch 2.

Going further, outlet CNET also reached out to Nintendo for comment. Nintendo responded by clearly stating that “the gaming hardware that Genki presented as Nintendo hardware at CES is unofficial and was not provided to the company by us”, echoing similar statements shared to Japanese outlet Sankei earlier.

Despite these new comments, its likely that speculation and leaks surrounding the Switch 2 will continue to circulate widely until the official announcement is made. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
