Guide: How To Befriend All Legendary Pokemon In Pokemon Pokopia
Although mostly hidden in the marketing, Pokemon Pokopia features a number of Legendary Pokemon for players to befriend, with some of them being very difficult to find without help.
Following the game’s release, the methods for finding every Legendary Pokemon currently available in the game have been discovered. While some of them are encountered as part of the game’s main story, many can only be invited to live in your towns in the post-game. You can find a summary of the methods past the spoiler warning below:

Kyogre
- The first Legendary encountered during the main story, after completing the quest to make the rain fall.
- Following this encounter, players will sometime see the message “You sense a large presence coming from the ocean”.
- If you have unlocked surf, you can go in the direction it is pointing and swim around in the ocean for a while. Kyogre will appear and you will be able to interact with it.
- At the time of this writing, there does not seem to be a way to permanently add Kyogre to a settlement.
Volcanion
- After completing the Rocky Ridges portion of the main story, host a second party using a Pokemon with the Hype ability.
- While the party is ongoing, shoot a firework off in the direction of the volcanic rock where Volcanion appeared the first time, and it will return to join your settlement permanently.
Raikou, Entei, Suicune, and Mewtwo
- After completing the main story, these four Legendary Pokemon will have a small chance of appearing on Dream Islands.
- Players can visit Dream Islands by interacting with a Pokemon Plush after befriending Drifloon, the each Dream Island has a chance to have a specific Legendary:
- Pikachu Doll = Raikou
- Eevee Doll = Suicune
- Arcanine Doll = Entei
- Dragonite Doll = Mewtwo
- Once you are on a Dream Island, you can use the Pokedex to check if the Legendary is present through these steps:
- Open the Pokedex
- Press “Y” to access the filters
- Set filters to Registration Status: All, Location: In this area
- If you see an “?” entry in addition to Ditto and Drifloon, this means that a Legendary Pokemon is present on the Dream Island
- Regardless of whether you checked or not, enter the caves on the Dream Island to search for the Legendary Pokemon. Even if it is not present, you can find useful rewards such as habitat information, CDs, Ditto Customization options, and more.
- If you find the Legendary Pokemon, speak to them and you will be able to befriend them and bring them back to your settlements and house them in a habitat or home.
Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres
- Down the path west of the Withering Wastelands Pokemon Center, you can find a broken pathway leading off into the distance. Rebuild the path, and you will gain access to Palette Town, a separate settlement area that can be customized to your liking, and is used for multiplayer features.
- In the Palette Town area, you can find Building Kits for massive superstructures that require a large area and many Pokemon to complete. Once completed, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will appear in their respective structures as follows:
- Freezing Chambers = Articuno
- Abandoned Power Plant = Zapdos
- Altar of Flame = Moltres
- Speak to them, and you will be able to befriend them and house them in a habitat or home.
Ho-Oh and Lugia
- While playing the game, you may hear the cry of either Ho-Oh or Lugia flying overhead. They will always drop either a Rainbow Feather or Silver Feather.
- Once you have recruited the Legendary Beasts and the Legendary Birds, you will unlock recipes for Bell items that can be crafted using the Rainbow and Silver Feathers as follows:
- Clear Bell
- Befriend Raikou, Suicune, and Entei
- Craft using 5 Rare Pokemetal Ingots and 5 Rainbow Feathers
- Tidal Bell
- Befriend Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres
- Craft using 5 Rare Pokemetal Ingots and 5 Silver Feathers
- Clear Bell
- Once you have the bells, you can ring them when Ho-Oh or Lugia are flying overhead and they will come down and speak to you. You can then befriend them.
- The Clear Bell will call down Ho-Oh
- The Tidal Bell will call down Lugia
- At the time of this writing, there does not seem to be a way to permanently add either Ho-Oh or Lugia to a settlement, and you will need to ring the bells again to call them down to talk.
Mew
- To the north of the Withering Wastelands, on the left of the tunnel that leads to an area with a windmill, you can find a wall of cracked dirt that hides a secret passage.
- Going down the passage, you will find an incomplete mural with all 27 Unknown on it. Walking up to this mural will trigger a message from the game about finding Mysterious Slates.
- Collect Mysterious Slates by breaking glowing blocks. You can increase the chance of finding glowing blocks by either bringing along a Pokemon with the Search ability and using the Dowsing Machine.
- Each Mysterious Slate has an Unown engraved on the back. Place all the Mysterious Slates on top of their corresponding slot on the mural.
- Once the mural is complete with all 27 slates, Mew will appear and you can befriend it and house it in your settlements.
