Guide: How To Download Your Copy Of Mario Kart World From The Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Set

The Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World set comes with a copy of Mario Kart World, but its redemption method could differ depending on the country/region you purchased the set from.

In this guide, we’ll introduce the different ways of redeeming Mario Kart World, and also explain some things you need to take note of.

Method 1 – Full Game Download

The first method is full game download, which applies to most Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World sets sold around the world (list of regions listed in the later part of this guide).

If full game download is stated on your set, it means that the software license is stored on the game console and you have to link it to a Nintendo Account before you can download it. In this case, no download code will be provided in the box.

During the setup process of your Nintendo Switch 2, the following system prompt will appear after signing in to your Nintendo Account, indicating that “this console includes a product you can register and download.”

Press the “Registration” button. You will be asked to confirm that you wish to register the product.

Press the “Save” button to confirm. The download will automatically start after the process is done.

If you wish to complete the process later, you can register the product by going to the Nintendo eShop, selecting your user account icon, and pressing the “Confirm” button under “Products Bundled with Console”.

Important notes to take note for Full Game Download

  1. Once the game is registered to a Nintendo Account, it cannot be transferred to another Nintendo Account. Please double check and make sure you are registering the product on the correct account.
  2. Software licenses for full game downloads are tied to the region which the bundle is sold in. For example, if you purchased the console bundle in Japan, your Nintendo Account country/region setting must be set to Japan. You can change your Nintendo Account country/region setting freely on the Nintendo Account page, so long as your Nintendo eShop balance is empty.

Method 2 – Download code

In some regions, Mario Kart World comes in the form of a download code. You can find the download code on a leaflet inside the packaging.

You can redeem the download code by following these steps after completing the setup process:

  1. Go to the Nintendo eShop on the HOME Menu
  2. Go to “Enter code” / “Redeem code” on the left side of the Nintendo eShop menu
  3. Enter the code and confirm

Important notes to take note for download codes

  1. Once the download code is redeemed, the game cannot be transferred to another Nintendo Account. Please double check and make sure you are registering the product on the correct account.
  2. Download codes are region-specific. For example, if you purchased the console bundle in Japan, your Nintendo Account country/region setting must be set to Japan. You can change your Nintendo Account country/region setting freely on the Nintendo Account page, so long as your Nintendo eShop balance is empty.
  3. Unlike full game downloads, download codes can also be redeemed on another Nintendo Switch 2 system.

Method 3 – Physical copy

In a few regions, especially those that do not have a Nintendo eShop, Mario Kart World comes in a physical format. Insert the Game Card to play.
