The Version 2.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons adds the long rumored cooking feature to the game, allowing players to grow and harvest crops which can then be turned into delicious food for eating and decorating.

Below you will find a short guide explaining how to get produce seeds as well as a list of known Cooking DIY recipes that can be found in the game:

Obtaining And Growing Produce

• Produce starts can be obtained from Leif when he visits the player’s island, or if his co-op shop has been unlocked in Harv’s Plaza.
  • Fully grown crops can also sometimes be found on Kapp’n’s Mystery Island Tours.
• After the starts have been planted in the ground, they will need to be watered every day for three days in order to yield the maximum amount of harvest.
• There are currently six types of produce:
  • Wheat
  • Sugarcane
  • Potatoes
  • Tomatoes
  • Carrots
  • Pumpkins

Unlocking Cooking DIY Recipes

• In order to start cooking, players must first purchase the Be a Chef! DIY Recipe+ upgrade for 2000 Nook Miles from the Nookstop.
  • This app will give the players a few starting recipes, including the all important Flour and Sugar recipes.
• Another batch of recipes can be obtained by purchasing Basic Cooking Recipes from Nook’s Cranny.
• More Cooking DIY Recipes can be unlocked through the following methods:
  • In bottles on the beach
  • From balloons
  • Speaking to Villagers while they are cooking in their homes or at the Happy Home Paradise Restaurant
  • Catching specific types of fish and sea creatures
  • From special NPCs such as Brewster and Daisy Mae

How To Cook

• To cook, players simply need to interact with a suitable Kitchen item, which includes the Stonework Kitchen, the Stove, the Ironwood Kitchenette, and more.
• Recipes usually require either Flour or Sugar as a base.
• There are 55 Savory type Recipes and 55 Sweet type Recipes, making for a total of 110.
