Guide: How To Unlock All Secret Jobs In Octopath Traveler II

Like the previous game in the series, Octopath Traveler II has a few secret jobs that players can unlock, which add greater versatility and abilities to their main characters.

There are a total of four secret jobs that players can unlock, and they are different from the ones featured in the previous game. Furthermore, they require a little bit more effort to find, with some requiring special sidequests to unlock skills.

You can check out a list of Secret Jobs and their unlock requirements below:

Inventor

  • A Secret Job that allows its user to wield powerful mechanical inventions, each with its own unique ability.

Job Unlock Requirements

  • Visit the Inventor Guild in the northeast part of Eastern New Delsta Highroad, just outside where the Thief Throne can be recruited, this can be done at any time from starting the game.

Unlocking Inventor Skills

  • To unlock skills for the Inventor, players must bring specific items to the Inventor Guild’s leader. These items can range from being relatively common, to being extremely rare key items. A list of the items required to unlock each skill and where to find them is as follows:
  • CRITICAL SCOPE
    • Requires an Unerring Earring and a Critical Earring, which can be purchased from weapon shops.
    • Unerring Earring is from New Delsta (where you get Throné) and Critical Earring can be bought from Canalbrine (where you get Castti).
  • ELEMENTAL BOMB BOTTLE
    • Requires a Fire Soulstone, Ice Soulstone, Thunder Soulstone, and a Rainbow Glass Bottle
    • The Soulstones are quite common, and can be acquired from pickpocketing NPCs, defeating monsters, and opening chests.
    • The Rainbow Glass Bottle is a special item located inside of a chest in the harbor area of Conning Creek.
  • TIN HORN
    • Requires an Empowering Lychee, a Tin Toy and a Mythical Horn.
    • The Empowering Lychee is a common recovery item that can be found around the world and in some item shops.
    • The Tin Toy is a special item that can only be obtained after completing Chapter 3 of the Merchat Partitio’s story. It is found on the second floor of the Department Store at night, held by an NPC Merchant. Use the Dancer Agnea’s path action to take it, or use the Scholar Osvald’s path action to steal it.
    • The Mythical Horn is a special item that can only be obtained from a chest in the Nameless Village on Toto’haha Island. It is guarded by a powerful Beastling NPC, which you must knock out with a path action in order to get past.
  • HASTENING HAMMER
    • Requires a Soldier’s Bow, a Great Blade, and a Guardian’s Axe.
    • The Soldier’s Bow can be bought from the shop in Clockbank
    • The Guardian’s Axe can be bought from the weapon shop in Stormhail
    • The Great Blade can be obtained from a Soldier hanging around the tavern at night in Stormhail. Use the Dancer Agnea’s path action to take it, or use the Scholar Osvald’s path action to steal it.
  • ARKAR’S COIL
    • Requires a Scrap Metal, an Ancient Cog, and Natural Magnetite.
    • The Scrap Metal can be taken from an NPC in Clockbank’s Industrial District, standing outside the weapon shop. Use any item-taking path action to obtain it.
    • The Ancient Cog can be taken from an NPC on Roque Island at night, in a house next to the tavern. You will need to have bought the Ship from Partitio’s Scent Of Commerce sidequest, which can be started in Tropu’hopu.
    • The Natural Magnetite can be found in the Unfinished Tunnel of Southern Crackridge Wilds. You will have to knock out the guard outside to get in. From the entrance follow the tracks and take the first turn down. Go down until you see a wooden ramp on the right. Go down the ramp and continue downwards until you see a ramp that leads behind a wall. Follow this ramp down and climb up the ladder to reach the Natural Magenetite chest.

Armsmaster

  • A combat focused Secret Job that allows its user to wield all six weapons, each with its own powerful skill associated with it.

Job Unlock Requirements

  • Visit the Blacksmith in Gravell after knocking out the debt-collector standing outside his home.
  • You will need to have one of the six Rusty Weapons in your possession when talking to the Blacksmith. After a short conversation, he will repair the Rusty Weapon into a Divine Weapon, as well as give you the Armsmaster job.

Unlocking Armsmaster Skills

  • The Armsmaster’s skills can only be used when its associated Divine Weapon is equipped. Divine Weapons are crafted by the Gravell Blacksmith from Rusty Weapons that can be found hidden across the land. The locations of each Rusty Weapon can be found below:
  • RUSTY SWORD
    • Obtained as a reward from the Sword In The Stone quest in Winterbloom.
    • Bring a Sturdy Pickaxe taken off a Merchant NPC in the Oresrush Weapon shop to the girl standing next tot he sword in the stone in Winterbloom.
  • RUSTY POLEARM
    • In Timberain, head into the west in Timberain’s Castle Town Square until you reach a NPC blocking a door. Knock him out, then follow the path he guards until you reach a chest with the Rusty Polearm inside.
  • RUSTY DAGGER
    • After unlocking the ship from Partitio’s scent of commerce quest, head to the Shipwreck of The Empress off the coast of Crackridge Ancorage.
    • Battle your way to the Captain’s Quarters and claim the Rusty Dagger
  • RUSTY AXE
    • Found in Quicksand Gaol, a dungeon west of Sai
    • Defeat the Lord Of The Sands boss in the center of the dungeon, and claim the Rusty Axe
  • RUSTY BOW
    • Found in the Sinking Ruins, located north of Toto’haha
    • Defeat the Behemoth boss after battling through the dungeon to claim the Rusty Bow
  • RUSTY STAFF
    • Found in the Seat of the Water Sprite, a small dungeon behind the waterfall in Borderfall.

Arcanist

  • A magic or support focused job with light and dark damage attacks as well as some unique buff spreading skills.

Job Unlock Requirements

  • After unlocking the ship from Partitio’s scent of commerce quest, head to the whirlpool in the middle of the map. You will have to defeat a powerful boss, but after that you will be able to access a part of the sea which was previously blocked off.
  • Sail north until you find The Lost Isle. Dock on the island and head up onto the ruins. Change the time of day to night, then walk left on the invisible path to reach the Arcanist.

Unlocking Arcanist Skills

  • The Arcanists skills can be unlocked like any other job, but they require a much higher amount of JP.

Conjurer

  • A magic or support focused job which imbues ordinary weapons with elemental attributes.

Job Unlock Requirements

  • After completing the Warrior Hikari’s entire storyline, you will have access to the city of Ku, on the right side of the Castle Entrance area, the Five-Tiered Tower of Ku is located.
  • Enter the tower, and defeat its five bosses to unlock the Conjurer job.

Unlocking Conjurer Skills

  • The Arcanists skills can be unlocked like any other job, but they require a much higher amount of JP.
