Happy 11th Birthday, Wii!
On this day 11 years ago, Wii, previously codenamed Project Revolution, was released in North America.
The revolutionary console with its motion control remote called the Wii Remote took the world by storm for its innovative way of playing games. The Wii’s innovation along with its high quality first party library of games (Wii Sports, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Pikmin 2, and many others) captured the attention and imagination of not only gamers but even people who were never exposed to gaming in their entire lives.
November 19, 2016 would be remembered as the day Nintendo’s fortunes turned for the better, and a day which proved Nintendo’s strategy in pursuing innovation over chasing better graphics worked.
