Bob-ombs are, when used correctly, one of the most powerful items you can use in Mario Kart World and other Mario Kart games.

After seeing no changes in several Mario Kart installments, Bob-ombs have finally been tweaked in Mario Kart World in two big ways.

The first change has something to do with how items such as shells, bananas, and Bob-ombs are deployed. When a Bob-omb enters your first item slot, it will be automatically placed behind your kart. However, you can still drop it behind you or throw it in front of you at other players.

The second change is also related to the first change. In previous Mario Kart games, if someone shoots a shell at you or collides into you when you have a Bob-omb attached to the back of your kart, your kart will get caught in the explosion. However, this doesn’t happen anymore – if someone shoots a red shell at you, the Bob-omb will explode, but you won’t be affected by the explosion.
