HORI’s 256GB microSD Card For Nintendo Switch Is Ridiculously Expensive
Official accessory maker HORI has announced a Nintendo Switch branded microSD card with a storage capacity of 256GB.
According to HORI’s official website, the memory card has a maximum read speed of 85MB/s and a maximum write speed of 15MB/s.
What makes the memory card so ridiculous is its price tag. The branded memory card will retail for 21,980 yen (excluding 8% sales tax), which translates to USD208. In comparison, a 256GB memory card with higher read speed and write speed by Samsung costs less than 13,000 yen (USD122), so customers are getting the same or better product for half the price.
The memory card launches in Japan in May 2018. No western launch announced at the moment.
