An interesting reference to the original Splatoon game on Wii U and Splatoon 2 game on Nintendo Switch has been discovered by Twitter user @JustAJAgain.

In the Splatoon games during the turf war mode, if you enter water at all you will instantly die and respawn.

This detail has seemingly been implemented as a fun reference in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate which is making many Splatoon fans happy. Here in the game if you character touches water at all in the stage they will slowly take damage.

This is the first time this has been referenced in any other non Splatoon game as playing as an Inkling in Super Mario Maker would not damage you whilst swimming in water.
