Latest Katana ZERO Update Corrupts Switch Save Files, Fix May Take “A Few Days” To Go Live
The Switch version of Devolver Digital and Askiisoft’s hit indie game Katana ZERO has been hit by a game-breaking bug due to its latest update going live too early.
The bug was discovered a few hours ago when Katana ZERO‘s latest Switch update went live ahead of schedule. Developer Askiisoft tweeted a warning to Switch owners not to update, as it would corrupt their save data. Luckily, the corruption does not delete the save, and it can be recovered as long as players do not choose the “reset” option.
Clarification – updating the game will not delete your save. If you boot the updated version, the game will say that your save file is corrupted and ask if you want to reset it. If you don't reset it, then you'll be fine.

Later, Askiisoft tweeted an update on the situation explaining that they had fixed the bug on their end. However, the patch might take “a few days” before it goes into effect. Once it does, players would be able to resume where they left off on their original save files.
Update : I've fixed the save bug on Switch, but it may take a few days for the change to go through. Your save files are not actually corrupted, and as long as you don't choose to reset them, they'll work again when the patch comes!

Furthermore, for players who may have accidentally deleted their save file without knowing the full details, a cheat code will be implemented along with the fix. The code will allow them to instantly beat the game in order to recover lost progress.
Switch update information.
-Your save file is not actually corrupted. As long as you don't reset your save, it'll work in the next patch.
-There will be a cheat code in the next patch to instantly beat the game, allowing you to recover progress if you've already reset your save.— Katana ZERO (@katana_zero) May 27, 2019
Those who own Katana ZERO on Switch may want to hold off on updating the game until the fix is released. We will be sure to bring further updates on the status of the patch as they come.
