Limited Run Games Warns Two NES Titles May Damage Your Console

Limited Run Games has issued a PSA warning customers that two of the games they released for NES may damage their console.

As reported by John Riggs on Bluesky (via Time Extension), Limited Run Games is sending out emails informing customers that Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland and Piopow have the potential to damage console after prolonged use. The reasoning given was that these games were not crated by the company’s usual manufacturing partner, leading to defects.

My email from Limited Run. Looks like my copy of Rugrats will just stay in the box.

Limited Run Games has removed both titles from sale, and are investigating whether other games built by the affected team have the same issues. Customers who purchased the games can opt to receive a replacement from Limited Run Games’ usual manufacturing partner, or to apply for a full refund. Customers will receive a replacement by default, without the need to contact Limited Run Games.

If you have purchased either of the affected games, it is advisable not to play them in your NES console.
