Masahiro Sakurai Had To Sign Up For The My Nintendo Store Lottery To Get A Switch 2

Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of Kirby and Super Smash Bros., shared an interesting tweet on Twitter this week.

The creator confirmed that he has submitted his lottery entry on My Nintendo Store for Nintendo Switch 2. Sakurai decided to go with the Multi-Language System, as he thinks that he has to use the console for work as well. The Multi-Language system is 20,000 yen more expensive than the Japanese-Language System.

He ended off saying that he hopes that he will be able to secure it. Signing up for the lottery does not guarantee anyone of a Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order; they will only be able to pre-order if they are selected. Given the high interest and demand, many are expecting a less than 1% chance of winning the lottery, despite the strict requirements to prevent scalping.

Some Japanese users were shocked that even a game developer who works with Nintendo weren’t guaranteed to get their own Switch 2 at launch.
