Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Sold Over 1 Million Copies Across Switch 1 And 2
Earlier this week, Nintendo published their latest financial results briefing, revealing the sales figures several newly released Switch 1 and Switch 2 titles.
While the figures included sales numbers for Pokemon Legends Z-A and Kirby Air Riders, the other major Nintendo release Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was conspicuously absent, leaving many worrying that it might not have sold well enough to be mentioned in the report.
Recently however, analyst Stephen Totilo took to social media with news that might assuage these concerns. Totilo said that a Nintendo spokesperson confirmed that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond had sold over a million copies across both the Switch 1 and Switch 2 versions combined. As Nintendo considers sales for both consoles separately, it is likely that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was not mentioned because sales for the two versions did not cross 1 million individually.
That said, the sales do come across as a little underwhelming, especially given the initial hype around the game and the excruciatingly long development time. Hopefully the series will still be given a chance to bounce back with a new installment, although we will probably not hear much about such plans for a while.
