Mewgenics Console Release In The Works, Switch 2 Considered “Frontrunner”

Last week, The Binding Of Isaac co-creator Edmund McMillen released his new game Mewgenics, which quickly rose to the top of the charts on Steam, selling a million copies and even beating out Hades 2 for the highest concurrent players on the platform for a roguelike.

According to a post by McMillen on social media, the Mewgenics team is already working on bringing the game to “all systems”. This presumably includes the Switch 1 and Switch 2, although a port for the latter is almost guaranteed to be locked in.

Q: how soon can we expect a console release?? congrats on the wildly successful launch

Reply: Working on it now not sure when it will be done though but at this point it might be in Dev for all systems

This is according to a separate source dug up by Nintenduo, where McMillen talked about potential console ports in an  r/SteamDeck AMA prior to the game’s launch, where he said that the Switch 2 was considered “The Frontrunner” for a console release.

we are deciding on a publisher now and defer to them when it comes to what they feel is worth developing for.. i have no idea what is viable anymore but i know switch 2 seems like the front runner right now.

We will be sure to report back with official updates as they become available. In the meantime, you can watch the game’s launch trailer below:
