Microsoft Acquires Activision Blizzard For Nearly $70 Billion
Microsoft has announced they have acquired Activision Blizzard.
The $68.7 billion dollar acquisition puts another round of major game franchises under Microsoft’s ownership, including Diablo, Overwatch, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, and many more. According to the official announcement from Xbox, once the deal has been finalized, they will aim to “offer as many Activision Blizzard games as they can within Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass”, including both old and new titles.
The news comes just over two years after Microsoft acquired Bethesda Softworks, the owners of The Elder Scrolls and Doom franchises. At the time of this writing, it is not clear whether future games from Activision Blizzard will become Xbox exclusives moving forward. More details about the acquisition can be found here.
We will be sure to report back with more details as they come.
