Microsoft Wins Court Case Against FTC To Acquire Activision Blizzard

Microsoft has scored another victory in its ongoing quest to acquire Activision Blizzard.

Specifically, Microsoft has won its court case against the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), who was blocking the deal over concerns that it would harm competition in the game console and cloud gaming space.

The presiding U.S. Federal Judge ruled on the side of Microsoft, stating that Microsoft’s intent to bring Activision Blizzard games to more consoles and cloud streaming services will be good for both competition and consumers. This ruling will allow the merger to go through in the US.

Following this verdict, the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is the only remaining hurdle left for Microsoft to cross. The CMA dramatically blocked the deal earlier this year, and Microsoft is set to appeal this verdict on July 28th 2023. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
