Mortal Kombat 1 Invasions Mode On Switch Only Includes Introduction, Full Content Coming Later
Earlier this month, Netherrealm launched Mortal Kombat 1 for Switch and other platforms. However, it seems the Switch version is missing a major feature compared to the others.
Following the game’s release, many Switch owners discovered that they were not able to fully access the new “Invasions” single-player mode. This highly advertised feature would have players go through a “Mario Party-esque” board game with branching paths battles, minigames, and loot. While other versions have access to the full suite of content for the mode’s Season 1, Switch owners can only access the Introduction segment.
In a message released by WB Games, the publisher confirmed that this is intentional, and that the Switch will only get access to Season 1 content at a later date. According to the message, this delay was to ensure that Switch players had “the best possible experience” of the game at launch.
“To ensure the best possible experience for Switch players at launch, only the introduction for Invasions will be available. The full breadth of Invasions Season 1 content will be available on Switch in a matter of weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause Switch players and are working to make this update as quickly as possible.”
This news comes amidst widespread criticism of Mortal Kombat 1’s Switch port, mostly due to the severe graphical downgrade it received in order to run on the hybrid system. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
