Nintendo has taken down the official Japanese My Nintendo Store website on the day Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders were supposed to start (April 24, 2025).

Previously, emails informing users about the results of the first Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order lottery were scheduled to go out from April 24, 11am Japan time, however as of 3:20pm Japan time, the overwhelming majority of applicants still have not received their emails, according to chatter on Twitter.

Some users were also able to pre-order Nintendo Switch 2 accessories on My Nintendo Store even though they didn’t receive the results of the pre-order lottery. This could be the cause of the emergency maintenance, as Nintendo has previously said that the sale of accessories will be limited to customers that won the pre-order lottery.
