Nintendo Confirms Another 140,000 Nintendo Network IDs May Have Been Compromised
Earlier this year, Nintendo revealed that 160,000 Nintendo Network IDs (NNIDs) were part of a major breach that saw some personal information leak out to malicious hackers. Well, it looks like the situation is still getting a little worse, unfortunately.
Nintendo Co Ltd. has confirmed that an additional 140,000 NNIDs may have been maliciously accessed as well. Out of these, less than 1% of the accounts were accessed to make fraudulent purchases – which Nintendo is now in the process of refunding.
In response, Nintendo has also reset the passwords of these NNIDs and the Nintendo Accounts that were linked with them.
We’ll report back if the situation develops further in the future. Stay tuned.
