Nintendo Discusses Impact Of Third-Party Switch Games And Potential For Cross-Play In First-Party Titles
During their latest financial results briefing, Nintendo held a brief Q&A where President Shuntaro Furukawa answered various questions about the Switch, including some related to third-party titles on the console.
In a response to a question about third-party titles for Switch, Furukawa said that Nintendo greatly appreciated support from third-party publishers, mainly for contributing genres of games outside of Nintendo’s specialty. Moving forward, the company hopes to make the Switch a platform where both first-party and third-party titles can continue to perform well.
In a related question, Furukawa also talked about the potential for cross-platform play for Nintendo titles. In the response, Furukawa confirmed that Nintendo currently has no plans to make any Nintendo title cross-platform, with some games like Pokemon UNITE only being an exception due to external factors.
