Nintendo Labo VR Will Reportedly Be Compatible With Switch Online Virtual Boy Games

Back in 2019, Nintendo released the Labo VR, a cardboard peripheral shaped like VR headset which allowed players to enjoy a few games with VR effects.

Although it has since been gathering dust, it seems it may soon find itself with a new purpose. While attending a press preview event in New York, outlet GamesBeat claims to have heard from a Treehouse staff member that the upcoming Switch Online Virtual Boy game catalogue will be playable using the Labo VR, and that Nintendo is avoiding advertising as such because they currently do not produce Labo VR kits.

Another possible reason, although not mentioned by GamesBeat, could also be because the Labo VR is not compatible with the Switch 2, as the new console is too large to fit inside of it.

The Virtual Boy games catalogue can currently only be played if players own the dedicated Virtual Boy peripheral, or if they own the cardboard Virtual Boy headset. The Labo VR could therefore be a good alternative for players who already own it.
