Nintendo Network’s Final Player Is Disconnected After 6 Months
Earlier this year, Nintendo shut down the Nintendo Network, which provided online services for the 3DS and Wii U games as part of their plans to officially sunset both consoles.
Despite the plug being pulled, a few players took it upon themselves to keep the service alive for as long as possible by staying connected to the network through their games. Now, as reported by Nintendeal, the service’s last user has finally been disconnected. The user goes by the Fishguy6564, and stayed connected by watching Lakitu Victory Run laps on Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS until their device crashed.

The second last player to disconnect was SlitherySheep, who was also the last player connected to the service on the Wii U, staying online by playing Super Mario Maker.

With this, the Nintendo Network service is officially dead, bringing an end to 12 years of supporting players with online multiplayer, Nintendo Network IDs, and more.
