Nintendo NY’s Overwatch Legendary Edition Launch Event Cancelled
Nintendo NYC has announced that their planned Overwatch: Legendary Edition launch event has unfortunately been cancelled.
The event was originally scheduled to take place on October 16th at Nintendo NYC, and would have featured appearances from the game’s voice cast. However, in a post today on Twitter, Nintendo NYC revealed that the event had been cancelled, apparently at the request of Blizzard.
Please be aware that the previously announced Overwatch launch event scheduled for Wednesday, 10/16 at NintendoNYC has been cancelled by Blizzard. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

While the Tweet did not specify a reason for the cancellation, many suspect it has something to do with the current outcry against Blizzard for banning a professional Hearthstone player, who recently made political statements about the ongoing protests in Hong Kong. Evidently amidst all the controversy, it looks like Blizzard has opted to avoid any potential dissent at the venue.
