Nintendo Reduces Annual Switch Sales Forecast, No Change In Switch Successor Announcement Plans
Nintendo has released their latest financial results briefing, detailing some of their plans for the Switch in 2025.
According to the materials, Nintendo has reduced its full-year sales forecast for the Switch b7 7% to 12.5 million units, and its software sales forecast by 3% to 160 million units. President Shuntaro Furukawa stated that this was due to sales for the current fiscal year falling short of their original projections. Presumably, this is due to waning demand for the console as it enters its eighth year on the market.
“But sales so far fell short of our original projections. Taking into consideration their sales in the first half, we revised our forecasts for both hardware and software, and that led to the earnings revision.”
That said, Furukawa also reportedly said there is “no change” to their plans for the Switch successor’s announcement, which they previously mentioned would come before the end of this fiscal year. This means that we can still expect the reveal to come before March 2025, provided all else continues as planned.
Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
