Earlier today the official My Nintendo Store in Japan started taking pre-orders for customizable Nintendo Switch sets (you can choose the color of the Joy-Con and straps) for the first time in 2018. They are scheduled to ship within January.

Last year, pre-orders for these customizable Nintendo Switch consoles ran out within 1 to 2 hours the moment they appeared and the site was overwhelmed by high levels of traffic. Today, it seems pre-orders have opened for over 9 hours and counting, which is pretty impressive when compared to how things went in 2017.

We could probably take this as a sign that the Switch shortage is about to end in Japan, a good thing for consumers and everyone else in the industry.
