The Nintendo Switch 2 has officially launched at major retailers across Japan on June 5, 2025, and the Japanese mainstream media went to cover the situation on the ground.

There were long lines of customers waiting to collect their consoles. All of these customers were those that won pre-order lotteries held prior to launch, so there aren’t any consoles available for walk-in purchases. Many were pleased and happy that they were able to secure a Nintendo Switch 2.
