Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders Delayed In America Due To Tariffs
A few days ago, Nintendo of America advised retailers to start pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 on April 9, 2025 in the United States.
Plans have changed on April 4 – the pre-order start date in the United States has been postponed to a later date, which remains unclear. This is because the company is currently evaluating the impact of President Trump’s Liberation Day tariffs, which affect all countries that trade with the US.
Game Cards, which are produced in Japan, will be tariff-ed at 24% of the customs value when they enter the US. The console, which is manufactured in China and Vietnam, could be tariff-ed at up to 50% of the customs value.
While Nintendo hasn’t announced any plans to revise prices at this time, it seems that the Switch 2 is still scheduled to be released on June 5, 2025, so the release date will not be postponed. We will have to wait and see what happens.
