Nintendo Switch 2 Will Not Launch In Central America And The Caribbean In 2025

Sad news for Nintendo fans in Central America and the Caribbean – it seems that Nintendo Switch 2 won’t launch in both regions in 2025, however it is expected to launch sometime in the future.

During a private meeting on the night of April 29, 2025, Nintendo executives told official distributors about their decision not to officially launch the Switch 2 in these markets. They provided the following reasons:

  1. These markets do not have a Nintendo eShop, which is seen as a key obstacle to launching the Switch 2
  2. Nintendo believes that the markets in Central America and the Caribbean are too small to justify official distribution
  3. No Switch 2 units have been allocated for these markets

The following markets have been affected by this decision:

Central American countries

  • Guatemala
  • Belize
  • Honduras
  • El Salvador
  • Nicaragua
  • Costa Rica
  • Panama

Caribbean countries

  • Cuba
  • Dominican Republic
  • Haiti
  • Jamaica
  • Puerto Rico (non-incorporating territory of the United States (U.S.)
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Barbados
  • The Bahamas
  • Saint Lucia
  • Grenada
  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  • Saint Kitts and Nevis
  • Dominica

The decision not to officially launch Switch 2 in these markets would mean that gamers and fans will have to import from other countries, such as the United States. There will also be no repair services and customer support provided in these markets.
