Nintendo Will Not Be Providing The Press Early Switch 2 Review Units Until Launch
It seems that Nintendo has no plans to provide the press early Nintendo Switch 2 review units, as well as a copy of Mario Kart World and other Nintendo Switch 2 games, for coverage purposes until the official launch on June 5, 2025
According to The Game Business, a few major outlets will receive their review unit a few days before launch, and the rest are expected to receive it on launch day. Nintendo says that a “significant day one patch” is the reason why they can’t provide review units ahead of time.
Some editors have anonymously complained about Nintendo’s decision to withhold review units until launched, saying that it doesn’t give them enough time to cover the console and fretted that other people may provide early coverage by getting the console through “dodgy retailers” ahead of them.
This means that it is unlikely we will see reviews for the console and Mario Kart World until after their release. However, it seems that Nintendo is holding early preview events for the press to try out Mario Kart World ahead of its launch, so we may get to see some early impressions.
