Nordic Distributor Accused Of Ripping Off Savings From Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Set

Bergsala, a long-time distributor of Nintendo products in Norway, Sweden, and Finland, has been accused of ripping off customers buying a Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World set in Norway.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World set is offered at a low price to help players save some money as compared to buying the console and game separately. For example, the standalone Switch 2 and Mario Kart World set retails for USD449.99 and USD499.99 respectively in the US. This helps American customers save USD30 off the list price.

In Japan, the standalone Switch 2 Japanese-Language system goes for 49,980 yen (USD350) while the Mario Kart World set is priced at 53,980 yen (USD378) – that’s 4,980 yen (USD35) in cost savings.

In Norway, it seems that customers aren’t saving much even with the Mario Kart World set. According to Redditor highlyunstable420, the standalone console goes for NOK6695 (USD660), and the bundle goes for NOK7449 (USD735). With the digital version of Mario Kart World retailing for NOK879 (USD86), this means that customers are saving a mere NOK125 (USD12), a far cry from what customers are saving in other regions.

This pricing disparity has led to accusations that Bergsala is ripping off customers and pocketing at least USD18 in cost savings that should have went to the customer, and some have suggested fans in Norway to purchase a Switch 2 that “costs less” from Amazon Germany instead and “not give any money to Bergsala”.
