Over 13% Of The Nintendo Switch 2 System Memory Is Reserved For The Operating System

A Russian Telegram group that leaked the Nintendo Switch 2 one week ahead of launch has shared details on the console’s system memory.

Nintendo has stated in official marketing materials that the Nintendo Switch 2 comes with 256GB of high speed system memory, but how much of that space can be used by the player? Turns out, you can use up to 221GB (86.4%) of space for game downloads, videos, screenshots, and save data, with the remaining 35GB (13.6%) reserved for the operating system and future updates.

For comparison’s sake, 6GB of space is reserved for the operating system on Nintendo Switch – that’s equivalent to 18.75% on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite, and 9.38% on the Nintendo Switch OLED model.
