Pokemon Fans Challenged To Catch A Million Pokemon For Childhood Cancer Research Fundraiser

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation has announced a fundraising event for childhood cancer research which challenges players to capture 1 million Pokemon.

The event is called “Catch a Million to Conquer Kids’ Cancer”, and will run from April 24th and April 30th, aiming to raise $100,000 across 7 days for childhood cancer research projects. It will be primarily hosted on Twitch, where participating streamers will be linked up with a special app that tracks how many Pokemon they capture on stream. According to the official website, Pokemon games from “every generation” will be eligible, including Pokemon GO.

In addition, there will also be a competitive component to the event, where two teams compete with each other to see who catches the most Pokemon. Team Greene will be led by Bruce Greene, an independent content creator who previously worked with Machinima and Rooster Teeth, while Team Corvus will be led by Kara Corvus, a scientist, streamer, and cosplayer. The event’s app will also be keeping track of individual streamer high scores.

The full details about the event can be found on the official site here.
