Pokemon Sold 9 Million Units Of Software Last Year Despite No Major Releases

The Pokemon Company has released updated sales figures for its games and other products.

As highlighted by Stealth40K, The Pokemon Company’s website now says that they have sold over 489 million units of Pokemon-related video games to date. This is reportedly an increase of around 9 million units since last year’s figure, despite the free-to-play Pokemon TCG Pocket being the only new Pokemon game released in 2024.

In recent years, The Pokemon Company’s almost yearly release schedule for major Pokemon games has been a hot topic of discussion from fans. Many believe that the quality of the games would improve if the developers are given more time to work on them, while detractors claim the yearly releases are necessary to support the brand.

This new figure seems to suggest that Pokemon could do just fine taking a gap year, although it remains to be seen whether it will have any effect on The Pokemon Company’s release schedule moving forward.
