Pokemon X Van Gogh Museum Collab Draws Massive Crowds Seeking Exclusive Merch

Yesterday, The Pokemon Company and the Van Gogh Museum started a limited time collaboration at the Amsterdam attraction, featuring a special art exhibition and merch, including a promotional trading card.

As soon as it was open to the public however, the exhibition was overwhelmed with a massive crowd of guests, as seen in many video clips shared on social media. From what can be gathered, these guests were mainly interested in getting their hands on the collaboration merch that was being sold at the event along with the trading card. These crowds have quickly been labelled as scalpers, with at least one individual spotted bragging about their haul of cards online, seemingly with the intent of reselling them for profit.

The crowds seen at the Van Gogh museum are not unlike those seen at Pokemon Center stores whenever a card promo is going on, and is indicative of the lucrative demand for Pokemon trading cards. While, the collaboration card and merch are also available at the Pokémon Center’s online store, some reports claim that the store is also experiencing errors due to demand.

In a small comfort, the collaboration will be running up until January next year, so truly interested fans should have ample opportunity to enjoy the exhibit and merch when the hype dies down. Stay tuned for more updates as the come.
