Pokemon X Van Gogh Museum Collab Leads To Several Employee Suspensions
Last year, The Pokemon Company held a collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum, which quickly descended into chaos due to massive crowds swarming the exhibit in search of the card.
Now, several months after the collaborations conclusion, several employees who were supervising the event have been suspended. This news comes via a report from Amsterdam publication Het Parool, which says that at least four employees from the Van Gogh Museum were suspended over misconduct during the event, one of whom had been working there for 25 years.
According to the report, the suspended employees were accused of informing their family and friends how to secure tickets to the event after it sold out, as well as of embezzling a box of Felt Hat Pikachu Pokemon cards. These exclusive cards were infamously the main cause of the commotion during the event’s initial run, being highly coveted by fans, collectors, and scalpers alike. The museum considered these actions to be a breach of the establishment’s code of conduct, resulting in the suspensions.
