Nintendo has taken action to remove an “adults only” island from Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The island was created by @churip_ccc, and was an Edo-inspired “Red Light District”, including a much suggestive imagery as possible within the game’s family friendly environment. This included shops selling nothing but schoolgirl cosplay and toys, numerous Statues Of David, and a room filled entirely with Isabelle portraits.

@churip_ccc posted on social media about the removal, cheekily thanking Nintendo for “turning a blind eye” for more than five years, translated below:

“Actually, just a day before the update,
The Dream Address for the Adult Island was deleted by Nintendo.
To Nintendo, I apologize from the bottom of my heart.
Or rather, thank you for turning a blind eye for more than five years.
To everyone who visited the island,
And to all the streamers who showcased it in their videos,
Thank you so much.”

It is likely Nintendo took action due to the recent release of the Version 3.0 Update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, expecting a resurgence in interest towards the game, particularly due to new features related to Dream Islands.
