Random: Nintendo’s Twitter Confuses Fans Into Thinking Nier Automata’s 2B Was Confirmed For Smash
Ever since the announcement of the second Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighter’s Pass, fans have been desperate to know which of their favorite videogame characters would be joining the roster next.
Recently, this excitement led to a rather amusing situation involving the official Nintendo Twitter account. Over the past few days, the account has been sending out automated responses to several Twitter users, saying it will send them a reminder when Animal Crossing: New Horizons has launched.
The aforementioned Tweets adopt a pretty basic format that tacks on the word “confirmed” to the end of a user’s Twitter handle. However, one of these users was an account supporting the inclusion of Nier Automata‘s 2B to join Smash Ultimate. The account’s handle was “2BforSmash”, leading to the following automated response:
@2BforSmash Confirmed! We'll send you a note when #AnimalCrossing: New Horizons releases on 3/20.

As you can see, the resulting phrase “2BforSmash Confirmed!” generated a bit of a frenzy on Twitter, receiving 11.9K likes. The 2BforSmash account even cheekily responded that this was Nintendo “officially” confirming the character as DLC.

The format of Nintendo’s automated Tweets has also led to some other hilarious combinations, such as “Pikmin42020 Confirmed!” as pointed out by Youtuber Arlo below:
Nintendo sends AC:NH reminder tweets to Twitter accounts. One of them has the username Pikmin42020, creating the combination of words "Pikmin 4 2020 confirmed." People find this and freak out.
This is how desperate we are.
This is what Nintendo is doing to our poor minds. https://t.co/BQm7maUFg5
