Rumor: Development Budgets For Switch Pokemon Games Leaked
Earlier this week, the group behind the infamous Tera Leak hack of Game Freak returned with another batch of internal details from the company about past and future Pokemon titles.
From this batch of details, we now know the rough development budgets of the games from Sword And Shield up until the presently unannounced Generation 10 Pokemon titles. You can view them below in terms of Japanese Yen:
- Pokemon Sword And Shield: 2,498 million
- Pokemon Sword And Shield DLC: 386 million
- Pokemon Legends Arceus: 2,175 million
- Pokemon Scarlet And Violet: 3,298 million
- Pokemon Scarlet And Violet DLC: 1,423 million (originally planned to cost 500 million)
- Pokemon Legends Z-A (estimate): 2,000 million
- Generation 10 Pokemon games (early estimate): 3,000 million
Following the reveal of these figures, many fans have expressed surprise at the amount, which is a great deal lower than what one would expect from a franchise as successful as Pokemon. The lower budget likely ensures that Pokemon games will remain profitable even if they somehow do more poorly than expected. That said, the comparisons many are making are with Western AAA game projects, so the budgetary differences may be due to other factors.
