Last month, Nintendo and LEGO launched a new line of sets based on Mario Kart, featuring fun bricky renditions of racers and karts from the game.

Now, a new rumor has surfaced hinting that something much bigger is in the works for the line. According to Instagram user lego_minecraft_goat (reported via Brick Fanatic), a Mario Kart set will be taking the slot usually reserved for LEGO’s high-end Icons line.

The LEGO Icons line is a more adult oriented line that features iconic vehicles, structures, and figures from real-life and pop culture. Examples include models of famous cars from models of Porsche, McLaren, and Chevy, as well as the PAC-Man arcade cabinet and Atari 2600 console.

The leaker asserts that the new Mario Kart set will retail for $169.99 and release in July 2025. If it is meant to be part of the Icons line, we can presume that it will be a much more elaborate take compared to last month’s sets. Stay tuned for more as it comes.
